The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 前面都比较平，奶奶最后一句话直接升华破防。奶奶不仅要独自面对儿孙离开，还要面对丈夫离世，被遗留的她，得有多坚强才能说出“走吧孩子，不要回头。”游子远行，被留下的他们心中纵有万般不舍，更与何人说。
选角很赞，连詹米多南都不违和。Irish music在这里再合适不过了。本来以为会很沉闷。结果轻松有趣（还是睡了挺久），要二刷/二刷，选角真好。小Buddy真可爱，喜欢这种娓娓道来的感觉

人物在一看就没有居住功能的人造置景里表演乡愁，黑白影像里塞满陈词滥调自我沉溺的金曲+蒙太奇段落组合，那个自以为在模仿西部片决斗的场景更是简陋到可笑，进一步凸显导演在片中无数次强调的“影迷”身份之不合格。

影片有些过于刻意了，人物都带着一种弧光，仿佛都生活在滤镜之下。肯尼斯•特拉纳这次的风格有点儿向特伦斯•戴维斯靠拢，但构图与运镜又有着极大的不同，不得不说影片的画面一流。
