剧情介绍

The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will.     最近看过最迷人的电影,多美好的巴黎,那个女人们穿皮衣牛仔裤的年代,那个上街狂欢而非打砸抢的年代,有Jane Birkin的年代(女主居然是Birkin的女儿,我说怎么气质和长相那么那么像!),有菲林和夜间电台的年代。纯粹是一种情怀吧,当然,21世纪的人想回80年代,80年代的人想回60年代,60年代则想回到20年代,只留下无尽浪漫美好的对旧时光的幻想。

    在黑暗里看这部影片实在是很有触动。巴黎的夜景,瞬间的情动,孤独的天台秘密。想起我的高中,躲掉吃饭的时间在教室里听电台,还有无数个我刻意和被迫成为旅人的孤单。好想去巴黎看夜景抽烟喝酒。法国人,一个用脚拍也能拍出三星好评的国度。

    色调灯光各方面营造的氛围还是不错的,故事也有些芸芸众生的群像感。本来以为是一个救赎的故事,结果其实是一个母亲的成长故事,应该是男性导演拍的吧(还没看一下导演),如果让女性来拍四十几岁的中年危机的母亲或女人可能会有更细腻或全面的感情。最后如果能是流动的结局会更好,不要是静止的全部人都在的回忆。因为,毕竟巴黎夜旅人,大家都会走,回望那些哪怕曾经快乐的回忆也是没有意义的。我们能做的,只是在回忆变质前分开而已,不然再快乐的回忆都会被那些不真诚的敷衍甚至互相伤害消磨殆尽。
