茨维格的中篇小说里，最喜欢《象棋的故事》。电影虽不及原著，但改编也不错，男主演技好，最后的棋局拍的相当精彩。

对素食主义者的血腥屠杀，戏谑黑色程度让人叫绝。很久没看到这样政治不正确的黑色喜剧，夫妻二人开着人肉铺不停的砍杀，让人感受到了对某种矫枉过正的再次纠偏，很轻松的喜剧，而且十分好奇火腿的鲜味。
