The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. fury迷双眼冒泡泡，好想rua。但这部片子的细节其实做得比较粗糙，为什么在祠堂，以及家人交流还要说英语呢？不应该是粤语嘛。还有，对于中国孝道、内卷、宗族、神灵的展现有些单一和刻板了，甚至有些扭曲。

2022年对2002年的怀念和创新 这小熊猫是今年最萌的动物了吧。果然东亚封建原生家庭的控制欲和生存焦虑才是最大的怪物 孩子想干点啥就让他们干呗 别整的好像你们啥都懂似的 你都懂就活成这样吗。teenager时期的纯真友情格外珍贵感人 处好了就是一辈子的朋友和家人。片尾几首歌居然还有点好听哈哈哈 都是那个年代偶像团的味道。

本来以为是个可爱精巧的romcom，结果是探索人性的剧情片。我一开始是比较同感南希，到后来会比较同感里奥。我觉得如果我是里奥，第三次会面之后我绝不会再见南希了。她越界了，但是剧情表现的好像是她推到里奥的成长。爱玛汤普森的表演绝对是影后级别的，但是我觉得编剧对南希太宽容了。

巩俐演出《夺冠》有什么值得吹的呢，技术而已。俺妈汤普森大姐惊天一脱，表率了女演员在性别与性议题上的探索与表达可以走得多么深远广阔。
影片重点描述青春期中国式家庭的压力，像这样逼得太紧张的家庭，全球都有，有的是父亲严格有的是母亲，或者全家包括亲戚都严格，这种现象只不过亚洲比较普遍。
3.有朋友（男）在全剧最喜欢爸爸，因为只有爸爸apprecaite美美的熊猫，我当然觉得他的屁股坐得不偏不倚的（嘲讽的意思），猫爸在虎妈面前还是有存在合理性的
非常精彩的创意。已经想象着杨紫琼饰演外婆，兰道尔朴饰演爸爸，吴恬敏饰演妈妈了。
很可爱很青春，小熊猫太萌了，粤语念咒也是相当可以了，亚裔家长的刻板印象也是做得很极致，分分钟让人神经紧张。
关于接纳自己的青春题材动画，故事其实很传统，华人导演也终于将中国元素与全世界都能读懂的主题和情感融合在一起，这才是自然而然的文化输出，不单单是为了迎合某个族裔的口味或者盯着他们口袋里的钞票。
〈四星半〉母女和中西方其实都是老生常谈，但红熊猫和追星就很可爱，很好笑。
