The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 没想到印度短短几年就已经可以拍出这种电影上大荧幕，两个画面~一个是游行，还有个是男主出柜后和妈妈抱在一起看得我泪流满面，想到曾经自己出柜时的场景……
比《爸，我一定行的》好些，摄影更好，细节也做得更好了，更有电影的质感。看得出导演是港片迷，有港片情怀，某些套路/节奏/笑点像是模仿老港片的，什么地方发生什么剧情，都可以预见。剧情有些地方还是不够流畅，男主和某些配角演技有时候生硬了点，不太自然，有点尬。男女主角CP感不够，互动不够亲密，某些情节设计又挺让我费解的，女主这么优秀，一个人在深圳打拼，性格却这么温柔顺从，少了点个性的样子。男主妈妈演得更好，结尾在飞机上妈妈说“你是不是觉得妈妈很差劲”（类似这样的台词），这时候挺打动人的。融入的潮汕地区传统文化和婚育话题，挺真实的，倒是让我感到有点不适，个人也不喜欢这些东西，比如催婚，催生，婆婆教媳妇拜神，算命等等。片子的音乐，插曲，片尾曲好评，很好听，融入得还不错，里面还有王家卫《花样年华》的曲子。
第一次作为投资人参与的电影~主创都是平时一起喝酒吹水的好基友，敢想敢做，坚定靠谱，第二部电影作品完成度如此之高远超预期。调色时有幸一睹真心立马决定用养老金入股，非常有信心！
说不清哪里好，可就是看着看着又哭又笑。妈妈的演员让我想到我妈妈了。
拍得很像生活纪录片。素人演员的表演很真实了。节奏不太行，到后半段让人完全失去耐心。
［8.0］挺有趣的电影，可惜因为小成本和不知名主演导致没有上映到春节档。十分推荐要带女朋友回老家的哥们看看，提前熟悉下两个不同地域之间的差异和互相的磨合处理。
还挺不错的 印度在印度电影里都变的干净多了
很难得的富有地方特色的方言电影。套路、桥段都在意料之中，但还是比较贴近生活的，不少地方让我会心一笑。做作或生硬都有，但不膈应。几个主要的素人演员选得很好，特别是贤姨、父亲和奶奶，他们的表演，有一些神来之笔，可遇不可求的。
想想印度那种宗教环境，这部电影敢拍，要是还能公映，那确实比我们进步😂
雀食，故事本身涉及到的都是很常见的问题，如果放在欧美片只能说已经out了，但在亚洲地区，不得不说很大胆。。。我们永远期待真正平权那天的到来，因为期待国内的发展，毕竟小红花和缉魂打擦边球都公映了不是吗🌚
就冲着最后父母的接受和理解 这电影我觉得还不错 母亲和他相拥的时候的大哭 感觉是心疼他的委屈和妥协
笑死了，看自己熟悉的方言、习俗的潮汕剧。细节捕捉到位，不能说有点像，简直一模一样。千万不要被我妈看到这部。前喜后泪，写满了“可惜”两个字，有被触动到。影片拍摄可见比前作《爸》成熟，也专业了许多。★★★☆/7.5
想对以前有点请看宝莱坞的歌舞片的自己狠狠打一顿，披着喜剧的外套但不乏故事深度。很多时候法律的冰冷框框圈住了特定人的自由，但是人心的宽大和爱能包容一切，愿世界充满爱，Love&Peace。——看看周围国家在影视上的突破，不敢直面的国家无法进步
忘了说了，女性不要形婚，还是管好我自己算了🙏。
虽然我也两次到过潮汕拍电影，但是纯潮汕题材电影我也是第一次看，首先用了偏向极端的人物关系，挑战潮汕传统妇女的观点，但是看到中后段感觉剧情有点拉跨，几处分分镜表达不恰当，当我以为我会给这部电影打低分时，最后一段手机拍摄的表演，把我感动了，尤其是妈妈的演员，就素人演员而言，最后一段的表演，是全片最好的表演，非常真实，非常令人动容。
可是拍出来的确实很不错，或许这就是拍电影真正的意义吧！
开头二十分钟，胖女孩相亲，梅林茂《花样年华》配乐出现了三次，真的很网大的感觉，甚至是恶搞视频的味道。。虽然我旁边两姑娘快笑疯了。。然后分手也分得太草率了吧。。但妈妈真是好，真实，可爱，演员也演的好。。媳妇就是工具人。。如果不是我预期太高，或与我期望的完全不一样，我可能会给三星。
《带你去见我妈》是一部很不错的关于潮汕的作品，呈现了另一种外来媳妇本地郎的人文故事，不仅仅适用于潮汕地区，在情感上乃至全国都会有共同的地方可以引发观众共鸣。
前半段很好，真实到我生理不适，后半段就有点美化了（别问我为什么知道，因为我就是知道😭😭)开放结局会更好。
第一次看印度同影 同为亚洲人能relate到 最后男主在pride parade里带上那个彩虹面具那里真的挺感动的 但是我感觉男女主家庭都有一定特殊性 就是父权力量都比较弱 现实生活中出柜估计比这还要困难吧
