The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 最喜欢亚历山德拉·希普的嗓音。
你永远可以相信LMM。你也永远可以相信加菲！！！演技长进得相当可以哦，看得出对larson的举手投足都是琢磨过了，把音乐执着和幽默天赋演到了骨子里。时常觉得LMM是larson附体么，为啥那么有才华，就很多创作的方法真的好妙。
可能是这类故事我真的看太多了，不管有多喜欢seasons of love，对这部的感受也只是一般【当然有的歌还是不错的】
未必是最好的影片，却是当下最难得，最契合个人情绪状态的电影。同片中的主人公一样，在某项事业上投入了数年的时间精力，却没有得到任何回报，而身边所有美好的一切也一点点从自己生命中逝去。到底是再投入数年时间，还是退出这个行业另谋出路呢？我的人生又还有几个年头允许自己这么去挥霍消磨呢？
音乐剧这拨人艺术感觉太好了。生命短暂，你留下传奇
不是音乐剧受众，本来想只给三颗星，翻看到一条评论，提到电影里的一段台词，“你得写下一本，再下一本…”。故事的过程和结果可能不够美好，但要学会去发现它的闪光！最后的歌曲没有音乐会那首节奏轻快，不过也有被感动到。
6/10。看开头就知道是我不会喜欢的音乐剧片了，而且这类电影在豆瓣都是高分好神奇。喜欢同年的《身在高地》，俗人只爱看五彩斑斓的唱跳。有一场女生唱段给我口型对不上的感觉。电影与音乐剧的结合，弊大于利。
30岁就开始倒数人生了吗，真是让人害怕。cage or wing，ask for birds；fear or love，ask for yourself.
看到片尾那些乔纳森当年的片段 才发现加菲是真的好像他 导演为同志角色平添的颜色很闪耀 那竟是真正打动我的部分
排练和声段落，每个白人中间都夹着一名少数族裔，格外整齐。太服气了，有劲儿吗？真的开始觉得美国片不如法国片好看了。
片子看着很过瘾，音乐都很有力，词儿特别到位，好朋友迈可那段看得眼泪汪汪。加菲演的好卖力！后来一搜发现，Jonathan Larson得了个怪病英年早逝，可惜！
乔纳森是不幸的，英年早逝。
压力来自于自己和别人比较
将歌舞成功嵌进了情节里，而不仅仅是停留在了简单的插入，人物情绪的展现更是非常丰满，充分把舞台的效果发挥出来，加菲的表演抓住了人物对梦想的坚持和对舞台的奉献，情绪的表达很到位，唱功也真的好。（8/10）
剧作结构相当不错，用表现形式回溯，可惜末尾也没让这个叙事空间真实出现，不然可以形成互文的。故事本身有触动我的点不过确实比较自恋，文艺工作者的归宿确实是某种无私的自我创作与表达吧，不过艺术与生活的那个30岁倒数确实也很准确。那个从小玩到大的gay 朋友的故事挺动人，成功与男主对比，相当立体，是很不错的，但也没有完全自洽，他的初心是什么？应该是把艺术当作某种功利性工具，与加菲把艺术当作生活的全部不同，可gay在得知自己阳性之后也没有太明确的行动。这么看，在已有文本的基础上还是显得编剧改编团队不够出色。摄影相当不错，运动摄影很有质感，多层次的分镜表现也让提名剪辑情有可原
漂亮的游泳池 source of inspiration！
这种人社会里有不少，可惜能冒尖的真是凤毛麟角；有人为他树碑立传，也不枉他人世走一圈了。
口水歌真不好听，故事线和情感线毫无波澜，技法一般，言之无物，题材吃香是唯一的亮点吧。加菲猫煽情起来，他不尴尬，别人很尴尬。
乔纳森35岁就离开这个热闹又残酷的世界了，莫扎特也是这个年龄去世。痛苦确实能催生好的艺术，坚持梦想本就是非常难的事情吧！边看边想为什么加菲和石头姐要分手啊，石头姐因爱乐之城获得奥斯卡最佳女主，希望加菲能靠这部成为今年的最佳男主吧！没想到加菲能唱能弹能跳的～本身对这种题材不太感冒，加之故事没有太大戏剧性，不过就像那位经纪人说的那样，写你知道的事情，对啊，发生的真实的事情足已有很大魅力了～感谢这些不断革新的艺术家，让我们有好看的好听的可以去体味
