The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 故事简单浅显，制作精良（水地图和动作戏我个人觉得还是挺好看的，但审美和传统中国审美好像有偏差，男主妈妈家乡的颜色过于鲜艳，还不如国产电视剧，大战前人们穿上的作战服在我看来像是上台唱戏的表演服）。中国元素（唐人街、女主家庭等）可能能让美籍华人产生一些共鸣，不太能让广大中国本土观众感到亲切。
由唐人街早餐一段講外婆悼念亡夫，以為「Moving on is so American」，到文武因愛成狂不願放下妻子，最後放燈釋放⋯⋯ 有種被騙的感覺。算了吧，既然自行move on的尚氣也可以算是英雄。
