The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? With a keen eye and fresh take, Aselton’s directorial debut shines with crisp storytelling and fine-tuned performances. 故事完成度及格，属于看一半就知道后头是啥剧情的对小朋友观众友好的动画片。

同是体育传记，同为值得聆听的重要故事，还有所付出的极限减重以及对多重时间线的挑战的努力；如果Will Smith带着《国王理查德》完成横扫，那这也是个足以让Ben Foster可以竞逐颁奖季的表演。只不过最终落得三年前狼狼与《坏教育》那般“待遇”（TIFF呼声-HBO拿下-晚春档放送），还是只能期待他未来还有机会弥补从《赴汤蹈火》就开始积攒的遗憾。在这之外的部分，这是个严谨甚至知道如何敬畏原材料与人物的展开；贯穿各种暴力黑暗的磨难，以及对每重时间线的意义与人物处境的揣摩；它很没有任何花招噱头，却做好了自己所有想要实现的传达。
