The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it?     电影中的点睛之笔多来源于旁白，因为那是文豪巴尔扎克写就的。场景精美严整，演员表演也各安其分，就仿佛是一场精雕细琢的歌剧。主角的行为动作总是慢慢的，初期在乡间自矜于贵族血统的舒慢，进城后极力模仿和融入大贵族们的怯慢，投入名利场后放浪形骸的迟慢，万事皆空爱人死去后的痴慢。就算他最后走入湖中，泪也是慢慢的染开，水波也是慢慢的散开。卢西安就是这么慢半拍的度过他激荡的青年时代，也与他想要的东西都曾只差一步之遥，无论是爱、头衔或永恒的文学，而他最终“不再期待，开始生活”。巴尔扎尔人生中一定见过至少一个卢西安，而巴黎造就了很多卢西安，因为每个人都可能是卢西安。

    并没有看过原著，还是鼓起勇气来把这部两个半小时的片子看完了。完全不闷，比想象的好看。讲的是一个年轻的外省诗人随贵妇情人进入巴黎、被丢下于是转行做小报记者、借助各路朋友敌人摸爬滚打逐渐声名鹊起、企图重新获得贵族头衔最终彻底幻灭的经历。复辟时期的巴黎这个宏大的历史画卷表现得非常迷人：剧院、报纸、出版人、富商、贵族、王室之间的各种勾当，寥寥几个场景就展现地一清二楚。对话非常辛辣（应该是巴尔扎克的功劳）让人印象深刻。此外导演应该是有意加了一些指射当下的元素吸引观众。
