The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 唱歌最重要的是感觉——特别是慢歌，不是要唱出妳有多伤心，而是唱出唏嘘。唱快歌不是唱出兴奋，应该是唱出反叛。
现代社会还有多少人愿意为承诺，去做一件事，主创团队有了这个能力，就尽其所能，推动实现了一部“梅艳芳”的电影，希望不仅对粉丝，对大众都能有一个普及和了解。当然有商业的考量，票房等硬要求，影片也有妥协，戏说，选角不尽如人意，版权等各种因素，没有深入讲述更多，但当看到影片里梅艳芳本人的真实影像和香港的时代变换穿插的时候，那些因素好像都已经不值一提了。
嗯，作为改编，算是合格的，就是去除了前因后果，整体时长还能多出来三十分钟也是很有趣的了，其实评论里很多对影片的夸赞，都是原版电影就已经自带的了，要夸就夸这个版本所增加的家庭元素可能更好……

拍的太温暖了点，巨星是烟花般灿烂的，也是极端个性化和情绪化的，不需要标榜成好人。

6.8。拍的寡淡了些。新人主角都没选好，hold不住梅艳芳这么精彩的人生。
上层社会的真实生活，聚光灯下的光鲜亮丽反衬着背后的孤独和背叛，反倒是那些泊车人的生活更真实更接地气，最后渣男被全面整蛊了，呵呵

名人传记，你要么讲一件小事，讲好它，不然就容易出流水账。优秀典型是至暗时刻。
于是，这么一盘2个半小时的加料再加料大杂烩端到了餐桌上。好在演员们的表演在线，节奏也还算相对流畅，要不然真吃坏肚子了。
我看不得梅姐最後那場演唱會，是因為當時看到她和歌神張合唱那首【祝福】~~~唱到最后那一句『你和我重逢在燦爛的季節~~~』~的時候想到她以及L以及好多为之带来情绪相关的种种~~
无份之缘，即便明知不能长久，仍然会欣然接受。重要的是，缘尽之时坦然面对。
看完了，觉得很伤，不是大开大合的虐，就是不疾不徐的淡淡的伤。别人跟我说，这是梅姐的朋友拍的，可能是伤感于她的离开，因此奠定了如此基调，但梅姐自己本身是个率性洒脱的人，若是她自己来拍，未必此番伤怀。
