The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 没什么太大的惊喜，后半段的设置也不太高明，巧合因素太多。不过这种暴风雪山庄模式，还是挺讨喜的。
沉默的羔羊的另一个版本，人肉美食家，美食特写时让人感到生理不适，很艺术化的表达，如果剧情少一点爱情戏份，多一点客户群体的描述就更好了（感觉对妻子的描述不是很足，虽然有铺垫，但两人关系还是很模糊）

除了有些情节有点奇怪，为什么当她觉得单独打阿十，为什么不先告诉那个黑人大叔呢，还好最终战斗爆表，活下来了
3.5星！女性作为被消费与食用的肉与商品，而男性则作为一个尽情占有、享受与买卖这一商品的资本家。本片与一般女性主义影片的差异则在于，通过将这一异化与物化概念直观的暴力的呈现，通过将女性与商品，男性与资本的相联系，而揭露出一套性别版的私有制社会制度。
结尾绝了，原本想指望的男性友人落荒而逃，同样被祸害过的女人反身成为施害者，单身女人得救靠的还是单身女人。女导演在诠释女性主义上真是独到又精准，爱了爱了。
看似处处老套路，却又能带来不少新惊喜，相信女性观众从开头的相亲一幕就能品出主创真正要表达的是什么。至于“食人”主题看似极端荒谬，但联想现实生活，男权社会对女性的剥削和宰割又能好到哪去？再加上本片中所有男性角色的“精彩塑造”，着实让人胆寒心颤
强行政治正确，吸毒人员有那么好的身体素质？内容无聊。
把變態拍出了一點溫馨祥和。鐵鏈女都應該來那麽一下魚死網破。
电影主人公的人设设定很不错，没有一些常见的stereotype刻板印象的人设，而且场景安排得也不错一个被暴风雪封堵无法行动的游客中心（很奇怪这个游客中心都没有工作人员的吗？），情节设定也比较有意思，但是实话实说拍得真的不吸引人，看着有点闷，不过还在最后十几分钟还算是有点小高能，特别是那个钉子枪把钉子打进女主的手腕里钉在墙上然后又把手拔出来，看着瘆人，不过也就那么一点小惊喜吧。
女主蛮彪悍的，奇怪的是意志力这么强大的人为什么会被毒瘾困扰，我觉得是女主失去自杀的父亲，又目睹母亲出事，内心痛苦到要靠毒品来逃避现实吧。父亲的自杀也是战后创伤导致，战争夺走了多少幸福的家庭……
一星给食肉男主的怪癖。爱情的陷阱，男女主都败给了爱意，最后的反杀有点拖沓，补刀很重要
暴力+反转，牛的……女主战神转世，整个情节都很紧凑，但就是让人觉得哪里又差了一点，很奇怪。
非常生猛！最近有一个流派，大概是疼痛恐怖，或是肢体恐怖，大概标志着北美的传统血浆恐怖片开始转型进入心理恐怖片。这是北美人民的进步（恐怖片会越来越恐怖），如果没有无神论配合，可能宗教心理恐怖片很快会上票房排行榜，接下来就是上帝死了又活过来的一套流程。（误，瞎说的）北美所谓的文化，很快会被东亚文化入侵。（误，其实是元素化。）期待山村老尸北美版。
第一部是惊悚类型片，背后是吃人肉的组织和标志，续集估计得成反击，如果去掉幕后组织，少一点恋爱过程，或者是多一点情节会更好，考虑到成本问题，这么看剧情的话，感觉要出续集。
当「食人禁忌」也如同一种「网红」，其本质不过是新一代的招摇撞骗的载体，外加上「女性主义」的受苦与反噬，是最好不过了。
仇男电影，油腻普信男，网络上见女号就发调图的男号，只吃女人的食人魔，怂货黑男，里面的男人全部是直男癌，刻意丑化男性，电影里的性别一换怕是微博都要瘫痪。吃人肉我看的津津有味，唯独这女导演打拳给我看吐了。和着导演吃猪牛羊还能一口吃出是公还是母来？强行来一波女人的肉更好吃？请问你去买肉是爱买满是脂肪软趴趴的肉呢？还是爱买没啥脂肪肥瘦相间肉筋道的呢？
刚看完《普通人》就有新的Daisy Edgar-Jones可以看真是太幸福了。

#Sundance 2022# 其实不抱期待去看完全不知道剧情感觉还行呀，类型爽片～前期男主说自己不吃动物肉其实隐隐约约有猜到啦，想说女主力气不够，还得是黑人姐姐一脚踹倒加后期助攻，最后回去找手机真的很不合理诶，情节可以稍微细一点吗…如果从大的层面来看，隐喻社会对于女性“剥削吃肉”的行径以及另一个男性配角不在场的构思还是不错的…
