The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 保守老套又无趣，一切情节闭眼预料的前提下还存在大量无法自洽的逻辑断链，长度足足两小时的叙事仍然缺乏必要铺垫充满走流程既视感。网飞抓取热门元素的经典招数不再有效，带子狼+女孩+萌宠+好心野兽这些曾经百搭的配方如今除了Karl Urban的配音全都味同嚼蜡，就连主角人设也是沿袭演员最火的影视作品形象加以略微改造。片中许多可以加深主题的情节关键，尤其事关历史本同虚构，战争只是人类权力的搬演这层醒悟，全部轻描淡写地带过，主旨升华沦为喊空话，最后成品又是一部给小孩看都不会抬下眼皮的幼稚儿童片。
PS 行定勋拍《GO!大暴走》时，有没有预料到踩白线游戏会被人多次模仿呢？&.东出昌大的戏份完全可以剪掉啊！！！
组合了各路电影IP的招牌元素，让两小时的成片相当丰满；不仅仅是应接不暇的冒险，同样展示情感意义满载的成长路。但中间的唱段和最后的片尾演绎，都让人感觉如果有更多音乐的部分，会让气质更加出挑；稍显累赘的叙事进展，也有些破坏了考究画风所带来的片刻新鲜。Karl Urban的配音很有趣，与演员有足够信服的火花；拓展下去或许并非问题，说不定还能成就Netflix靠拿动画BP实现“曲线救国”。

很棒的动画片，精彩有趣，寓意深刻——“那些书上写的都是谎言！”
诚然，这不是一个新颖的故事，我们在很多电影中都看过类似的东西：一个局外人洞悉真相，最终将两个种族的矛盾化解。但考虑到这似乎是自《加勒比海盗》后，唯一一部真正描述海上冒险的电影，这一切又变得让人兴奋了。
6分-整个故事中规中矩，毫无波澜，就是看惯了白人小孩，突然来个黑人小孩，不太适应！
想看个肤色正常的电影怎么那么难啊，女孩的圣母角色是以前的白人小女孩了，最后站在王城里又是她出来控诉战场谎言，白瞎在海兽，那段粉色沙滩感觉很不错，有点eva
不知道从什么时候开始，动画里必须安排一个丑萌丑萌的小哑巴~
时间好残酷，城市可淹没一切，但不要忽视年少时曾让你感动过的力量。

制作自然华丽，但剧本那叫一个烂，简直是蛆流成河，各种不合理，各种编不下去按套路瞎编，看到开头就猜出结尾，大概又是哪个富二代为了个人梦想出来坑害人类社会的作品吧！
阎魔塑料感有点重。王国猎杀海兽历史悠久，被小女孩一通演讲就转变。
有一个镜头很恐怖，第一次掉进海里，焰魔深海里盯着他们。。。剧情有点老套了，怪物做的挺可爱。可以很流畅的看完就算好电影吧。
类似驯龙高手，但不及驯龙高手。Butcher的声音辨识度很高啊！
海兽好可爱，但居然同时也刻画出了吓人的一面，还挺牛逼的。收尾稍微有点过快，不过要是不这么整的话简直得拍好几季的权谋剧了吧hhh 可爱就完事了x

十分“恶政隐”了哇哇。故事毫无意外，作画也很敷衍——也就是没钱。低配迪士尼吧。
