The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 意外之喜，竟然一口气看到结尾，基本没有感觉无聊的部分。看上去是赌神片，实际是复仇片，内核倒是有那么一点点矫情但无伤大雅，在一多半的时间里都做到了不动声色地微调观众的疑点，勾引且看下文分解的欲望。片子的优点在于气质，和男主的面相与做派一样，并非惊人但沉静高贵。和这样的男人萌生爱情，女主的感情逻辑也是畅通的。
为了取得职业中的成功，二人开始了一场从外到内的较量与竞争，但是偶然的一次电梯事故，使二人的竞争关系发生了微妙的改变。
简单的爱情轻喜剧，中文里“冤家”这个词还是很贴切的😂

套路爱情片，电梯那段还挺好磕，后面人物动机也没交代清楚
没办法耐心看完。和小说最大的差别，或者说背离是，男主角一直在笑是怎么回事？
一个生活不说邋遢也是普通人的不修边幅，另一个完全就是强迫症，也要撮到一起…
2星半。这片实在是看的让人有些三观崩裂，像是chick movie型的爱情喜剧又有些在塑造人物上的各种妥协，最后又强行大团圆也是挺奇怪的。
影像风格和故事设计都很施拉德，一颗荒芜的心如何拯救另一颗濒死的心，监狱广角设计有意思，其他则寥寥。
非常适合情人节（女）单身狗一个人看。难得有一部不是那么政治正确的爱情片子，女主和男主的身高差萌已经让我决定看完了，何况男主女主颜值都有80以上好吧。虽然故事挺老土的，基本看个十来分钟就能猜到解决那种，但是有什么关系，甜就够了。虽然女主比较渣，男2有点惨，男主太完美，但是。。。。单身狗就爱看这种啊！已经好久没看过这么老套的爱情片了，而且是小说改编的，大家就能了解既然能拍成电影小说也不会差到哪里去对吧。总之一句话，适合爱幻想的女性观看，尤其是单身那种。
聲音和音樂營造出足夠迷人和有效的氣氛與情緒可以讓弱情節的藝術電影有更寬闊的更多維度的思考與想象空間。
男主真的fucking hot 谁不想跟他one night stand😭😭😭
打过德扑的人都知道，算牌作为一种概率技艺，可以构成打牌整体策略，为长期盈利提供数学工具。但具体到某把牌，甚至某次比赛，某一天，某一个月，是否能赢钱都首先建基于运气，也就是偶然性之上。当代“神学”如果说还有什么是超验的，或许就是这种“偶然”，那种我们能从萨弗迪兄弟电影中大量感知到的混沌和不可预计性。而施拉德只能在老派的信仰体系里做得足够正统，在当代电影语汇显得足够正点。不过，这个电影最成功地方，当然是把赌博男人塑造如此帅，如此秀食可餐。
