The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 氛围营造的非常不错了，一些小细节做的稍微逊色了点，反转也算精彩吧，开放式结局着实脊背发凉的感觉。整体不错，线索收集略差，应该能算的上是近期不错的恐怖片了。
看了一个半小时，伟大的数学家为了救儿子把家装潢成开启链接地狱之门，通往地狱之门的是留声机，之前没成功是每次都打断了留声机数数，最后一次成功播放完房子和地狱之门互通，这个恶魔是我见过最善良的教你数数，数到300万02，这片子太无聊了，我不会忘记今年看的第一部无聊恐怖片
底层偷渡客住廉价鬼屋惨遭献祭而后反杀的过程～怪物的造型有点四不像呀～成为下一代献祭者受益人也终于成了屠龙的说～
氛围还行，数数的点第一次出现的时候确实让人浑身一凉。剧本还是单薄了，另外女主的演技让人出戏。总体一般。
恐怖设定真的用一个少一个 很惊喜这片子有很多新的设定让人耳目一新！但我觉得剧情还不够阴间 有些设定浪费了 比如恶魔手上的词语 “溶解 融合” 其实很好发挥 可惜到最后也没有看到更有震撼的画面 希望有续集再发挥一下
悬疑氛围，恐怖气氛还可以，就是前面铺垫太多平淡剧情，导演想要用前半段剧情表达影片的内核和主题，就缺失了影片该有的紧张感。怪物出现真是好评，这个怪物长得可真是好看！

隐喻的内容就不说了，能看懂的都懂了。很喜欢把科学和神学混合起来的电影，即带着些许的真实又带着虚幻的玄学。伟大的数学！！
最近没什么好看的恐怖片，我倒觉得这部还行，就是女主竟然这么老了，以前可是玉女啊
数学家的阴谋之数数数到迷失自我的一家人 我有点看不懂明明知道那个房子有问题还回家跟丈夫研究 不能带儿子出来再跟丈夫研究怎么救女儿么？妖怪都得觉得女主再试探他的底线给女主点颜色瞧瞧 这下知道谁是家里老大了吧

Netflix出品的戏氛围足够吓人，剧情不是特别理解，怪物的造型很独特，三颗星。
结局好评，就是一个人类punch了Baphomet有点过了
恶魔用手当脚🦶🏻，
剧情不复杂，气氛调节很好。故事背后的隐喻，是一家人感情的纠葛。最后的结局比较唏嘘。
既没“鬼屋”，也不惊魂！86分钟的时长，至少56分钟全片黑暗，我说的黑暗就是单纯的黑暗，灯光布置的不够专业，原本想烘托英式恐怖的暗黑氛围，结果弄巧成拙。点开导演Santiago Menghini的简介，恩，这部片还是用点心的，我指的不是用来吃的点心，但是鉴于是网飞平台的电影，它给了很多小众电影出头的机会，才能看到除好莱坞工业流水线电影外的作品，它们成本低且粗糙，但足以见到更多优质导演的野心。
低成本老套路，除了最后一幕冥界的场面和最后一扇门打开时的绝望反转。但，总体很牵强，逻辑难自洽。
