《天书奇谭》改编自明代罗贯中、冯梦龙的长篇神魔小说《平妖传》中部分章节，保留了狐狸精的片段，把担子和尚改成小孩蛋生，并重新创作了剧本，很多情节可以在中国传统民间故事里找到。

优秀的有点诡异的动画，老狐狸，俏狐狸，单腿狐狸。
2021年去大银幕重温了，看到了成人世界的无奈和压抑。动画果然是成人浇自己胸中块垒之作啊。美术和音乐绝赞。
